Madueke scores three as Chelsea beat Wolves

Noni Madueke scored three goals as Chelsea secured a 6-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Blues suffered a 2-0 defeat against reigning champions Manchester City in their season opener last week, but bounced back today.

Nicholas Jackson headed the opener early on, and Mattheus Cunha equalised for Wolves in the 27th minute.

Chelsea regained the lead as Cole Palmer restored the lead before Jorgen Strand Larsen equalised once again for Wolves in first-half stoppage time.

Madueke then scored three goals between the 49th and 63rd minutes before Joao Felix completed the win in the 80th minute.

Madueke, who joined Chelsea in January 2023, has now scored more Premier League goals at Wolverhampton than at Stamford Bridge (two in 18 games).

Earlier in the day, Newcastle United drew 1-1 against Bournemouth.

Dango Ouattara’s injury-time goal was controversially disallowed in a dramatic finale as Bournemouth had to settle for a draw.

Marcus Tavernier scored for hosts Bournemouth before Anthony Gordon equalised for Newcastle late on.
