VIDEO: 40 EFCC staff fired for corruption under my watch —Olukoyede

Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ola Olukoyede has revealed that at least 40 staff members of the commission have been sacked for corruption and financial malpractices under his watch.

The EFCC boss disclosed this in a video he posted on his verified X handle, there are no assets whatsoever above the set threshold that must be declared and registered by staff members.

“When I continued, the report was there: the officer who was driving the Range Rover, lived in Maitama. So we asked them directly – where was his house from? The car? “A gift from my brother abroad.” OK. Where is the proof?

“That’s why we created our Gifts and Hospitality Policy. Any assets above a set threshold must be declared and registered. The law allows certain traditional gifts; we determine which you may accept and which you may not.

“We changed the name of the Department of Home Affairs to the Department of Ethics and Integrity, because the task it carries out is internal cleaning.

“In less than three years, I have fired more than 40 staff for corruption and financial malpractice. More than five people have already been tried, with more case files being prepared. The cases are in open court – you can follow them up.

“If I am investigating and prosecuting people in other MDAs for this, why fire me?”, he stressed.
