The Edo State Police have arrested a 57-year-old man, Edokpa Patrick, for possession of firearms and ammunition. The suspect was arrested at Ugomonson community with a single-barreled gun and 172 live bullets.
According to the command’s spokesman, Moses Yamu, police acted on intelligence information to arrest the suspect. “The suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed single-barreled gun with 172 live bullets,” Yamu said.

During interrogation, Edokpa confessed to being a member of the truth group but also admitted to selling live ammunition. He also revealed that his wife, Blessing Edokpa, who is still at large, was the one selling the live ammunition and that he usually got his supplies from Onitsha in Anambra State.
Yamu said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed. He also appealed to the public to report any suspicious persons or activities, reiterating the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property in the state.
In other words, “We urge the public to report any suspicious persons or activities around them as we strive to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.”
