Former National Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), North West, Salihu Lukman, said on Wednesday that Nigerians will elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
The former Director General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) stated this when he appeared on Channels Television’s program, Politics Today.
He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) had failed Nigerians and was not worthy of being in power until 2027.
According to him, Nigeria’s economic and security situation has worsened under Tinubu’s watch.
He also argued that the party produced emperors as governors in the states.
Lukman has been one of the APC’s biggest critics since Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023.
He resigned from the APC membership on June 13 in protest at the handling of party affairs by the national leadership led by Abdullahi Ganduje.
“This country can’t go on like this. All I know is that something has to be done. Whether that act of giving will result in something that will fix all the mess that’s out there, that’s what I’m pushing for.
“I assure you and I am confident that in the same way that we managed to remove the military from power, we will fix the current mess.
“We will come to a situation where we have functioning political parties, and the APC and President Asiwaju (Tinubu) will be defeated in 2027, and we will produce leaders who will serve the citizens, not leaders who are emperors.”
