Nine-time champions Enyimba FC recorded their first win of the 2026/27 Euromatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season after defeating Shooting Stars 4-2 in their rescheduled matchday two match in Aba on Wednesday night.

The People’s Elephant, who had endured a difficult start to the campaign with just one point from their first five matches, finally came back to life with a convincing performance that provided much-needed relief to their disappointed supporters.

Richard Ezinna opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Chibueze Damian doubled Enyimba’s lead in the 28th minute.

Idris Abubakar added a third in the 36th minute as Enyimba took a 3-0 lead into the break.

Ifeanyi Ihemekwele extended the home team’s lead shortly after the restart, scoring in the 49th minute to make it 4-0.

Shooting Stars scored two goals late in the game through Adams in the 76th minute and Johnmark in the second minute of stoppage time, but Enyimba held on to secure a 4-2 win.

The victory takes Enyimba to four points from six games, as the Aba giants begin their fight to move away from the relegation zone.
