EDO 2024; SENATOR MONDAY OKS PEBHOLO COMMITMENT TO PEACE AND SECURITY AFFIRMS WITH SIGNING OF PEACE AGREEMENT.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Edo, Senator Monday Okpebholo, who repeatedly promised the people of Edo a safe and peaceful state when he was elected as the next governor, today showed that he is ready to walk the talk by signing the much-anticipated peace agreement.
While the PDP has openly turned its back on the peace pact signed by other political parties by contesting this election in the state, it is a sign that the PDP would never have prepared for this election in any other way, apart from a peaceful outcome, because such desperation in ignoring a peace committee that had the respected former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, is a total disgrace on their path, which speaks volumes about their sportsmanship and does not reflect the dutiful character of the Edo people.
This also suggests that while the PDP candidate may promise peace and security in his manifesto, his intentions have proven far from it if he fails to put Edo first, ahead of his desperate quest to become governor. This refusal of the PDP to sign the peace pact should make Edo people very wary of the party in the upcoming elections, after it has openly refused to have any interest in making peace prevail.
Amidst all this, for Senator Monday Okpebholo, this exercise has given him the opportunity to demonstrate his position as a staunch democrat, willing to undergo any process that can help ensure peace, stability and strengthen the democratic process in Nigeria, a litmus test he passed with flying colours ahead of this election.
This shows that the people of Edo State can rely on the APC candidate, a man of his word, devoid of any desperate act of power, but who on the contrary remains committed to playing his part in the search for peace in our State and the strengthening of democratic models.
