The new Management of Salala Rubber Corporation in Weala, Margibi County, discloses the plan to resume operation following closure in June.

Margibi, Liberia, Sept. 16, 2024: Mr. Jetty (Upjit Singh Sachdeva), owner and operator of Jetty Rubber LLC in Weala, Margibi County, recently acquired the Salala Rubber Corporation or SRC in the same location. He has told former workers and residents of surrounding areas of the corporation to prepare to get back to work. He said he will reopen the SRC School System and Health Centers effectively in October, signaling the beginning of work.
He made the disclosure on Friday, Sept 13, 2024 in a mass meeting with workers and former workers of the company at the main factory in Weala, Margibi County.
Mr. Jeety indicated they should get ready to work as it will not be business as usual, pledging his commitment to improving workers’ living conditions.
The meeting, which was held with the general manager, Ajith Kumar, senior staff members of SRC and former employees of the company’s school system and health center, saw the attendants in a jubilant mood after Mr. Jetty’s disclosure.
He purchased the company on August 26, 2024 after it was closed down in June by Socfin Group and payoff of workers following industrial action by aggrived employees, resulting to violence.
He assured former workers to reopning the company this October and fully cooperating with workers for the betterment of the company and their well-being.
He also promised to improve the school and the health center. Commenting mainly about the school, Mr Jetty, who commenced a regular feeding program for children in the SRC Plantation more than two months ago, said he belives in human resource development, capacity building and love for children.
He however, called on for workers’ commitment and support for his investment in the rubber sector of the country, as it is creating jobs for Liberians.
He noted that over 850 workers of the SRC will also benefit from his investment.
Making remark during the meeting, the General Manager of SRC Ajith Kumar appreciated Mr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva, for purchasing the company and restoring hope at SRC.
He warned workers to thinkly wisely before making decions and also urged them not to be carried away by negative influences, but work in the postive direction collectively to improve their lives.
