President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of the main medical directors, CMD, for six hospitals owned by the Federal Government.
The special consultant of the President (information and strategy), Bayo Onanoga, said that federal hospitals were in Akure, Gombe, Azare, Lafiya, Maiduguri and Kafanchan.
ONANUGA said that the newly appointed cmd and their hospitals were as follows:
1.Prof. OLLIVESTER OJO has been appointed medical director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Akure, one. An expert medical professional, Prof. Ojo, previously, had been the pioneer medical director of the specialized hospital of the State of Ondo.
2.Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi was renamed as head medical director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, following an exceptional performance during his first term. His reconfirmation underlines his exceptional leadership and contributions to the growth of the hospital.

4.Rr Ikrama Hassan has been appointed medical director of the new Hospital Federal Teaching Hospital in Lafiya, in the state of Nasarawa. A consultant doctor, dr. Hassan, previously, had been medical director of the Arab Specialized Hospital of Dalhatu Ibrahim before his elevation to a teaching hospital.
5.DR Ali Mohammed Ramat, a well -known orthopedic and surgeon consultant of the spine, was appointed CMD of the new National Orthopedic Hospital of Maiduguri, in the State of Borno.
6.Rr Haruna Abubakar Shehu, a consultant family doctor, has been appointed CMD of the newly constitution Federal Medical Center, Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
All the appointments, he said, have been for four years, in force by their respective charge employment dates.
Prof. Yusuf Mohammed Abdullahi, the second and last mandate as CMD of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, began on September 5, 2024.
The mandate of dr. Dauda Abubakar Katagum as CMD of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, State of Bauchi, has entered into force since December 6, 2024.

“He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to improve health infrastructures and ensure that all Nigerians have access to quality medical services”
