The Governor of the State of Rivers, Siminaayi Fubara, has denied that there was a relationship with militant groups and warned of efforts to incite violence or wave critical infrastructure in the name.
In a statement issued on Monday at Port Harcourt by the Head Secretary of the Head, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor refused as “fake and evil,” viral social media videos that accused the explosion in oil and gas installations in the state.
He urged security institutions to investigate the origin of video and take firm action against those who spread wrong information.
According to Fubara, the local community where the alleged incident was said to have occurred to have denied the claim and ensured that oil and gas facilities in their territory remained intact and fully operated.
The statement reads: “Our attention, once again, has been interested in the busyness of evil, fake, and imaginary videos of the explosion recognized at oil and gas facilities at the State Rivers.
“Almost all of these fake videos have been associated with alleged militant groups, with the creator of such content trying very hard to connect it with supporters of Governor Siminaayi Fubara.

“Already, the people concerned have responded, reject explosion claims and ensure that critical government assets remain safe, safe, and function efficiently.”
The Governor reiterated his commitment to peace and economic stability in the state.
He stressed that he had no affiliation with any militant group and would not support criminal activities that threaten the security of the country.
“To avoid doubts, Governor Siminaayi Fubara has no relationship with any militant group, does not reflect on such associations, and has no reason to encourage criminal elements, either in the state of Rivers or Delta Niger, to be involved in activities that can endanger peace or threaten national economic stability,” the statement strengthened.
