Aysc increases my confidence, Scrabble playing skills-joy wave

The rising scrabble star of Nigeria, Joy Ola, has accredited its success in the recently completed international championship of Cabbble Cape to the exhibition and experience that obtained from the opening African scabble championship (Aysc) held in 2023.

Ola, who emerged as the winner in the class B category in the prestigious tournament in South Africa, described the AYSC, organized by the Panfrica Scrabble Association (Panasa), as a crucial springboard in her sports career.

“Yes, the AYSC was a launch platform for me because it has created new opportunities, recognition within the scrabble community and personal growth too. My trust increased, it motivated me to do more and built my self -esteem,” he said. sportxvibe.com.ng In an interview.

Reflecting on his triumph in Cabo del Cabo, Ola, a 100 -level student at the University of Jos, (Unijos), expressed immense joy, calling him a decisive moment in his career.

“I felt a wave of emotion mixed with a feeling of relief and achievement. It was really a remarkable experience,” he said.

Ola demonstrated a remarkable skill and resistance throughout the tournament, winning 23 rounds and losing 19 to ensure a cumulative point of +832. Despite facing a challenging streak of bad suitcases on the penultimate day, she was still determined to finish strong.

“The competition was fierce and highly competitive because all the divisions were combined. However, I could reach the top of my division. I experienced a damn patch with bad selections one day before the final games, but I kept focused and safe. The victory left me in the cloud nine for days,” he added.

The young champion also requested greater support for Scrabble players, highlighting financial limitations as a great obstacle to international participation.

“To encourage and support young players, I think the federation or scabble benefactors should provide more financing opportunities specifically for women in sport,” he emphasized.

Ola extended his gratitude to Lukeman Owolabi, who won the first place in his division with 34 wins and eight losses, ensuring a cumulative point of +2593. She accredited him as his main sponsor for the tournament, while appreciating his father for his financial and moral support.

“I sincerely want to appreciate Mr. Lukeman Owolabi for sponsoring the tournament. I also thank my father for his support, as well as all those who encouraged me, encouraged me and prayed for me.”

Looking towards the future, the young Scrabble prodigy is anxious to refine their skills and compete in more international and national tournaments.

“I will return to the drawing board. There is still much to learn in Scabble. Traveling to South Africa was an incredible experience, and I hope to participate in more international competitions,” he concluded.
