Eight candidates fail the Kwara Tescom anti -drug test

The Kwara Teaching Service Commission (Tescom) states that eight of the 1,800 people selected for teaching work were positive for outlaw drugs.

A declaration by the Tescom press secretary, Sam Onile, on Monday in Ilorin, said he automatically lost their slots for the next best candidate in the highly competitive year.

According to Onile, the president of the Tescom, Bello Taoheed, said that the candidates tested hard drugs such as benzodiazepine, tramadol, cotinine, marijuana and amphetamine – all considered unsafe for human health.

He said the anti -drug test was conducted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with the full support of the governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

“A great implication of this development is that the affected people will be replaced by the candidates who are next to them in performance by their respective areas of the local government.

“The idea is to send an unmistakable message on the zero tolerance of the state government for the abuse of drugs.

“We have a duty not to expose young children to the abuse of drugs in no case.

“Once again, the governor Abdulrazaq has recorded his name in gold for insisting on the fact that the recruitment in the profession of teacher should be strictly meritorious and without any practice that can compromise quality learning in our schools.

“He also showed that he is a man who is sold to give each Kwaran a good chance,” said the president. (Nan)
