In an attempt to consolidate the favored partnership through the Nigeria-Suput Africa Bi-National Commission, which rarely inaugurated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Cyril Ramaphosa-I ministers of mineral solids of both nations have signed a memorandum of understanding (Mou) who has oblivified key areas of collaboration, complete with Timelines.
During a bilateral meeting in his office in Abuja, the minister of development of solid minerals, dr. Dele Alake hosted the Minister of Resources and Energy of South Africa, GWEDE MANTASHE. Dr. Alake described the commitment as a milestone in the deepening of bilateral relationships, especially in the vital mining sector.
Reflecting on the historical ties between the two countries, Alake noticed the long -standing diplomatic and economic cooperation built on mutual respect and a shared vision for the development of Africa. He stressed that collaboration in the mining sector offers great opportunities for industrialization, creation of jobs and sustainable growth throughout the continent.
“The Memorandum of understanding in geology, mining and mineral processing has signed today,” said Alake, “will act as a milestone to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technologies, promotion of investments, construction of capacity, regional integration and added added”.
*The salient points of the Mou key include:*
• Development of skills in geological applications using driver -free air vehicles (UAVS)
• Use of multi-hyper-specialty reciprocal technologies for mineral exploration and geological mapping
• Sharing geoscientific data on strategic minerals through the Nigeria Geological Survey Agency (NGSA)
• formation on mineral elaboration and on the addition of value
• Creation of capacity on the technology of elemental digital fingerprints using La-ICP-MS
• exploration of agro and energy minerals in Nigeria
Alake underlined the renewed attention of Nigeria on the development of its mining industry, stating that South Africa could benefit from the vast mineral wealth of Nigeria, while Nigeria could draw on the advanced mining competence of South Africa. This synergy, he said, would open the doors to investments, the development of skills and economic diversification.
In his observations, Gwede Mantashe said that South Africa – where mining extraction plays a central role in the economy, settles to earn the revitalized interest in Nigeria in the sector. He added that his visit aimed at agreements perfected by the bi-national commission and to deepen the collaboration on mutually advantageous projects with the Ministry of Development of Solid Mineral Minerals of Nigeria.
Both ministers have committed themselves to supporting the commitment and collaboration to increase intra-African trade and carry out the impossible phases outlined in the memorandum of understanding. They expressed the trust that this renewed partnership would significantly improve the mining sectors of both countries.
