…Swears to work against Atiku
β¦ He says that Makinde will not run against Tinubu

The former governor of the state of Ekiti, Ayodle Fayose, aroused controversy within the Democratic Party of people (PDP) stating that the governors on the party platform favor all the progress of the congress (APC), the president Bola Tinubu, on their presidential candidate for their party, Atiku Abubakar.
In an exclusive interview on the channels of TV policy today, Fayose has candidly expressed his opinions, citing the recent position of the forum of the Governors of the PDP in Ibadan, in the state of Oyo, as proof that they are not aligned with the political ambitions of Atiku.
“The coalition proposed by Atiku is a dead horse from the beginning. Tell me an influential figure who has promised support for this coalition,” said Fayose, criticizing the lack of tangible support for the ATIKU initiative.
He continued: “The unequivocal position of the Governors in Ibadan sends a clear message: we are standing independently, with our intact identity.
This coalition is simply a pious desire driven by people without a real influence. Governors give priority to their survival and, for many, Tinubu represents a safer bet of Atiku. “
Fayose highlighted the issues below the PDP, questioning the internal cohesion of the party between defections and ongoing challenges.
“Look at the PDP exodus compared to APC. There is a fundamental problem within the PDP that needs an urgent resolution,” he said.

In a separate declaration, Fayose affirmed his commitment to counter the presidential aspirations of Atiku under the Stendardo of the PDP in 2027.
Speaking on the same platform, he said: “If Atiku decides to run again, I actively oppose him. It is time for us to learn from our experiences. The Nigerians need clarity and decisive leadership”.
Fayose, known for its frank nature, underlined the need for a fair party leadership beyond regional considerations.
“After the mandate of Tinubu, a southern should rightly take the presidency. We must support the party’s supremacy and encourage responsible governance,” he added.

In addition, Fayose revealed that the governor of the State of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, assured him that he will not contest the presidency in 2027, in particular against a candidate companion Yoruba like Tinubu.
“Makinde has clarified me personally that he is not interested in those flyers circulating on social media. Unless circumstances change, he will not enter the presidential race,” said Fayose during the interview.
He concluded by supporting the unit within the PDP, underlining the importance of peace and collective concentration on national issues.
“We must build a cohesive party environment, free from internal conflicts and personal agendas,” observed Fayose.
Fayose’s observations aroused a significant debate within political circles, underlining the deep divisions and strategic alignments in view of the next presidential elections of Nigeria.
