Stop the current violent tendencies, Tinubu orders the security garments

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has requested an immediate stop at the current violence in some parts of the country.

During a meeting with the country’s security and intelligence agencies at the Presidential Villa of Abuja, Wednesday, the president told the heads of security that “is enough”.

The meeting was attended by the National Security Councilor (NSA) Malam Nuhu Ribadu; General Manager National Intelligence Agency (Nia) Mohammed Mohammed; The general leader of the Chief of Defense, the main general Emmanuel Indesiaye, the security service of the general state (SSS) Oluwatosin Ajayi and the head of the staff of President Femi Gbajabiamilae.

By contacting the correspondents of the State House after the meeting, the NSA said that President Tinubu President gave the security leaders several hours to inform him about the current situation.

He said the discussions were “very detailed, exhaustive and complete – from one to Z.”

Ribadu also said that the president was constantly engaged with developments in the country, even if it was abroad.

“He was constantly in contact, giving directives, following developments. This time, we were able to sit with him for hours and we gave adequate briefing. We also took new instructions from him,” he said.

NSA said that President Tinubu has expressed profound concern for the ongoing insecurity, particularly in the states of the plateau, Benue and Niger, as well as in Borno.

He said that the president has directed that the security apparatus must now fully interact with the political authorities and the basic structures in the affected communities.

“Insecurity is not just a government problem,” said Ribadu, adding “also involves subnational units: communities, local governments and in particular governors. The president directed that we work more closely with them”.

He said that security agencies have already acted on previous instructions by the president by visiting Flashpoints, meeting the state leaders and collecting feedback on local challenges.

“Some of these problems are linked to the community. Although not entirely, that element plays a significant role,” he said.

Speaking of the security situation, the NSA recognized the current efforts by the armed forces, the police and the community of intelligence in various regions.

He said the operations are “24 hours a day” and praised the dedication of the staff who, he said, “do not sleep, do not make holidays and sacrifice daily to protect the country”.

On the state of Borno, where the last few months had seen an increase in violence, the NSA has attributed the rebirth to the insurgents that plant IED and made opportunistic attacks after periods of relative peace.

“This enemy does not give up easily. When there is peace for a long time, they try to shock the audience with an isolated accident,” he said.

The NSA admitted that the country was not yet 100%safe, but insisted on the fact that Nigeria is on the right path. “Safety is relative. Compare what was before and what it is now. There have been a significant improvement.

“We don’t minimize any loss of human lives, but things have changed for the better and we commit ourselves to supporting that progress,” he said.

While underlining the determination of President Tinubu to reach peace, Ribadu said: “Mr. President is working hard to ensure that Nigeria enjoy peace and stability. We do not stop. We will not stop until obtaining the results it requires”.
