ICPC court bars from the arrest of Fuoye VC

Judge Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court, Lagos, has issued a provisional order that prevents independent corrupt practices and other commissions of related crimes from arresting or detained the deputy chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Prof. Abayomi Fasina.

The Court’s Order also prevents ICP, its agents or representatives from taking further steps in relation to their invitation to Fasina or violating its personal freedom and fundamental rights.

This provisional measure will remain in place pending the hearing and the determination of a movement on notice for an interlocutory injunction.

The sentence followed an ex-part movement filed by Fasina in the number of Causes FHC/L/CS/768/2025, presented by its legal team led by Ebun-Oell Adegboruwa (San) and O. Adensiye.

The application was supported by a sworn declaration filed by Dr. AdeDayo Sobowale, member of the Fuoye staff, together with documentary exhibitions.

By granting the refined findings, the Judge Aluko said: “A provisional order comes with this that directs the defendant, both for himself, for himself, his agents or his servants, to maintain the status quo ante bellum in relation to his invitation, threat of arrest, detention or reduction of the personal freedom of the applicant and fundamental rights, pending the hearing of the motion on notice.”

The judge also ordered the ICPc to refrain from taking further steps relating to the issue until the substantial movement was heard.

In accordance with the sentence, Prof. Fasina was aimed at presenting a formal company in relation to the Court’s Order.

The case was updated to April 25, 2025, for the hearing of the motion on notice.

Prof. Fasina was subjected to public control for the accusations of sexual harassment.

While the university senate freed him from any offense, the internal university unions continued to push for an independent investigation.
