The Ansar-UD-deen Society of Nigeria congratulated the Catholic community in the country for the success of the papal conclave and the emergence of its holiness, Pope Leo XIV, the first Pope of the Americas.

In a declaration signed by its national president, Prince Mosetiq Adeniji Kazeem (San, Fcarb), the Islamic organization expressed sincere joy for what he described as a “historical moment” for the global Catholic Church, observing that the unity, faith and resilience of the faithful reaffirm.

“We praise the Catholic faithful in Nigeria for their firm prayers, the unshakable devotion and the commitment to the spiritual well -being of the Church in this sacred process”, reads the declaration.

The company has expressed optimism on the fact that Pope Leo XIV’s leadership will be marked with wisdom, humility and a profound dedication to peace, justice and service to humanity.

“While the Catholic community in Nigeria joins the universal Church to welcome the new pontiff, we pray that his papacy inspires the renewed hope, will strengthen the faith and will advance the work of the Gospel both in Nigeria and all over the world,” he added.

By reiterating his commitment to interreligious harmony, the company cited a verse from the Koran (Surah al-Ma’idah, 5:82), highlighting the affection and mutual respect that should exist between Muslims and Christians.

The declaration ended with the prayers for the success of the papacy of Pope Leo XIV and the continuous peaceful coexistence between the religious communities in Nigeria.

The Catholic Church has announced Pope Leo XIV as the new spiritual leader who followed a conclave that attracted global attention.

Its election marks a significant chapter in the history of the Church, being the first time that a pontiff from the Americas has risen to the Holy See.
