Nigeria’s police forces dispelled the statements that a helicopter belonging to it was used to deliver food products to the bandits in the state of Kogi.

A viral video had shown the landing of the police helicopter and take off in a forest with armed individuals.

Speaking of the video in a declaration, Tuesday 13 May 2025, the public relations officer of the Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that the helicopter has never been used to deliver food products to the bandits.

Adejobi revealed that the police helicopter was deployed in the forest to provide support and surveillance to the safety agents during an operation in the Obajana axis of the State of Kogi.

Adejobi said: β€œContrary to the misleading and false narrative that suggests that the plane was used to provide food products to the bandits, the force categorically states that the video captures a legitimate security operation.

β€œThe operation in question was carried out on Saturday 10 May 2025, by joint security forces including local supervisory groups and hunters at the Obajana Axis of the State of Kogi.

β€œThe operation was part of the efforts supported to fight the bandits, the kidnapping and other forms of crime within the region.

“The police helicopter was deployed as part of the mission to provide air support and surveillance to the land forces involved in the tactical operation.”

The police spokesperson urged the members of the public to ignore the “unfounded and biken that surrounded” statements that surround the viral video.

“Citizens are encouraged to rely exclusively on the official police communication channels for accurate and verified information regarding security activities,” he added.

Adejobi stressed that the Nigerian police forces were committed to safeguarding the life and ownership of all the Nigerians and would have continued to collaborate with the interested parties to improve public security and national security.
