President Bola Tinubu approved aerial activities to counter the insurgents in the country.
The head of the defense staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, revealed it to the correspondents of the State Chamber after meeting the president at the President of Abuja on Friday.
President Tinubu, Friday, met the national security councilor, Nuhu Ribadu; CD; Head of the Army staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede; Head of the aerial staff, the aerial marshal Hassan Abubakar; Head of the naval staff, deputy admiral Emmanuel Ogalla; And the police inspector of the police, Kayode Egbetokun, among other security garments.
The meeting arrives in the midst of a recent increase in violent attacks by the insurgents in the north -est.
Noting that additional equipment was purchased to increase the military’s efforts in the fight against the insurgents, Musa said that President Tinubu has urged further collaboration with neighboring countries to fight insurgents.
He said: “Mr. President gave a directive on what to do after all efforts, collaborate with all our sister countries around us, because from there it is the porous nature that is aggravating our problems on the ground.
“And therefore all our theaters have been improved, the equipment has been purchased and the president has given us a lot of approval for aerial activities and other aspects of safety and, as we have said, it is not only the kinetic aspect, the non -Kinetic aspect is very important.
“The president is also trying to discuss the governors for their support, ensuring that the dividends of democracy extend to the community to set the question of insurgeneity and are working together”.
Responding to the concerns raised by some state governors, in particular in Borno and plateau, General Musa underlined the importance of multilivelo collaboration involving federal, state and local governments.
“Just yesterday I returned from Maiduguri. We were in the North East with ministers and other service garments. We are working with all the governors because we know that we cannot do it alone,” he said.
He invited citizens to support the armed forces, to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, urged them to ignore the misleading contents that circulate online.
“There is a lot of news false out there, old or foreign videos that are transmitted as the current Nigerian crises. It is a pity that some people celebrate when things go badly in their country. We must all work together. If you see something wrong, including the misconduct conducted by our staff, we will report it; we will act,” he said.
