On Thursday, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) expressed its readiness to take power in Nigeria in 2027.
Deputy Chairperson of SDP, North-Central, Abubakar Dogara, stated that this was during the meeting of the Zonal Party Caucus in the nasarawa state.
He described SDP as “Nigeria’s new bride,” said party membership grew quickly throughout the country.
“We held a meeting at the zonal, national, ward, state and local government levels.
“It is all part of our preparation. Our membership card is consistently fatigue at the state level,” he said.

He added that the party was building a strong grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 general election.
“So, we are preparing to take over the leadership of the state in 2027, with God’s grace. I believe SDP is now the bride of the nation,” Dogara said.
He urged the Nigerians to join the party in their respective environments and support their candidates to change the country’s political narrative.
Also speaking at the meeting, the Chairperson of SDP in the state of Benue, Idoko Idoto, expressed confidence in the party’s opportunity in the next election.
“Come 2027, I guarantee, SDP will come with full force. SDP will take over the states of Benue and Nigeria.
“We will win all senator seats, the House of Representatives, and the State Assembly will not be abandoned,” he said.
