President Bola Ahmed Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had approved the release of intervention funds for the rehabilitation of the Ibadan-Idea highway.
Tinubu, who declared him in his speech in the coronation of Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, the 41st OBA Obokun of Ijesa, in Ilesa on Friday, reassured about the commitment of his administration towards the collaboration with the traditional institutions for inclusive and lasting development.
The president, represented by the Minister of the Navy and the Blue Economy, AdoGboyega Oyetola, urged the new monarch to work to guarantee the peace and progress of the country.
He said: “You accuse your majesty of continuing to be a pillar of the unity and a bridge between the past and the promise of tomorrow. Our nation craves peace, equity and progress and traditional sovereigns like you have a vital role to play to achieve this vision”.
He also said: “In line with the renewed agenda of hope, our administration is fully committed to supporting the aspirations of all communities, including the great people of the land of Ijesa”.
He asked for a deeper collaboration between traditional authorities and government at all levels in order to face the challenges that face the country.
In his speech, the governor Ademola Adeleke reassured his commitment for the general development of the land of Ijesa.
He said: “In line with our promise, ISI is now a university city. Over 50 courses are already accredited. We are building the internal infrastructures within the University. The university management is building a credible global institution under the direction of our administration.”
