The Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) had declared the governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the winner of the Governnatorato elections after defeating his main rival, Agbola Ajayi of the Democratic Party of opposition people (PDP) and 14 other candidates for the governor.
Ajayi had contested the result of the elections before the group of courts of the electoral petition led by judge Ogbu.
Apart from the main PDP of the opposition, other political parties that have presented petitions before the court are the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Sitting on Saturday, the signatories adopted their written addresses and asked the Court to put aside the elections of November 16th.
The PDP, through its consultant, Bankole Akomolafe, said that the certificate of performance assigned to Aiyedatiwa by the inac should be disabled due to the substantial non -compliance with the electoral law.
The lawyers of other opposition parties, including the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adbayo, also asked the Court to cancel the electoral results based on what they called enormous irregularities during the surveys.
However, the consultant for Aiyedatiwa, his deputy, Olayide Adelami, Incen and other interviewees led by Wole Olaniipekun, Tayo Oyetibo and other lawyers asked the Court to fire the petition with substantial costs.
They said that there was nothing substantial before the court to show irregularities. In addition, they said there were no witnesses to demonstrate electoral negligence during the Governor’s elections.
The Court was set on June 4, 2025 for the final decision on the petitions presented by the opposition parties.
