Fubara betrayed me, made me cry – Wike

The Minister of the Territory of the Federal Capital, Nyesom Wike, revealed that the governor Siminalayi Fubara of the state of spinners made him cry following a profound sense of betrayal.

Wike, a former two -terms governor, made the revelation on Monday during his briefing for the monthly press in Abuja.

He said he had been overwhelmed by emotion after seeing the past videos of Fubara by praising him, just to turn to him following him.

“When I come back in my quiet moments, I play the videos of the governor’s speeches – what he said, what he did to me – I cry,” said Wike.

“Was it necessary? This was someone who pulled you on, gave you food, gave you everything. And then you became a tool for his enemies to fight it.”

Wike, who was decisive in the emergence of Fubara as a governor in 2023, complained that Fubara had allowed political opponents to use it as a pawn against his benefactor.

“This was someone you gave everything,” he added. “Then suddenly, he led the armed thieves to shoot you. Would you forget it just like that?”

The crisis among the former allies broke out shortly after Fubara assumed the assignment, spiral in a full -blown politics that hit governance in the state.

President Bola Tinubu intervened by declaring an emergency of six months, suspending the governor, his deputy and the state assembly.

Subsequently, a single administrator was appointed to manage state affairs.

Wike confirmed that although Fubara recently visited it to seek reconciliation, the two had not held a follow-up meeting.

“People led him to pray to me, saying he is your son. I agree,” said Wike.

“But how do you feel when the child you sent to school comes back with people who holds guns to kill you?”

The minister stressed that peace was desirable but not at the expense of memory and justice.
