[Press Release] The chapter of the Edo State of the Democratic Party of people (PDP) recognizes and praises the governor on Monday Okpebholo for the proactive approach of his administration to face the security challenges in the state.

Recent initiatives have led to a considerable reduction in episodes of kidnapping, cultural, bandits and attacks on the mandini to the communities.

The commitment of the governor Okpebholo in restoring peace and security is evident through various strategic actions:

● Legislative measures

The law on the law on the prohibition of cultural and the law on the amendment of the prohibition of the kidnapping, 2025, which impose rigorous penalties for transgressors, including the death penalty for the convicted kidnappers and the demolition of the property linked to these crimes.

● Operational improvements

The supply of over 60 new Hilux vehicles and 1,000 motorcycles to strengthen the skills of safety agencies, facilitating a quick response and better surveillance throughout the state.

● Commitment of the community

The reorganization and empowerment of the Edo State Security Network to strengthen community police efforts, ensuring that local intuitions contribute to effective safety strategies.

These measures have already started producing positive results, with a visible decline of criminal activities and greater safety for residents in all Edo.

The focused effort of the Administration to equip the safety agents and enforce the rule of law reflects a marked movement from the previous administration. Under the last government led by the governor Godwin Obaseki, the state witnessed the proliferation of firearms, encouraged the groups of cults that parade in broad daylight sometimes under the escort of the police and a general escalation of insecurity.

As a responsible opposition party, we recognize the enormous improvement of the security architecture of the Edo state. While we will continue to play our constitutional role in considering the government responsible, we commit ourselves to doing it with civilization, maturity and genuine concern for the well -being of our people, not through bitterness or sabotage.

We urge the administration of the senator on Monday Okpebholo not to rest on the laurels. The earnings made in recent months are praisable, but the fight against insecurity is an ongoing task that requires prolonged effort and supervision.

Our prayer remains that Edo people get the best from any administration saddled by the responsibility of governance.

We want a prosperous society and a stable economy and we will not avoid constructively involving the government to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every family in our beloved state.
