The forum of the Governors of the North States expressed profound pain for the death of the former head of Nigeria, Mohammed Lawal Uwais, who disappeared at the age of 89.
In a message of condolences issued on behalf of his colleagues, president of the forum and governor of the State of Gombe, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the deceased jurist as a man of integrity, a profound legal intellect, who was engaged in a judicial reform and the state of law.
“The death of justice Mohammed Uwais marks the end of an illustrious era in the legal history of Nigeria. It was not only a legal icon but also a symbol of judicial excellence and ethical leadership,” he said.
Governor Yahaya observed that “the legacy of judge Uwais will continue to inspire generations of legal minds and public employees. Nigeria has really lost a towering figure in her search for justice and democracy”.
Yahaya has extended the heartfelt condolences to the Uwais family, the government and the people of the state of Kaduna, the judiciary and the entire nation for monumental loss.
He prayed omnipotent Allah to grant the venerated jurist Aljannat Firdus and to comfort those who had left behind.
