Commander of Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has issued a formal apology to the Police Inspector General and directed the withdrawal of immediately the petition submitted without permission by one of the corps officers.
The petition, allegedly submitted by the Assistant Commander of the Attah Onoja Corps, who heads the NSCDC mining Marshal, was reportedly handed over to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Special Rights, and Public Petitions. It contains accusations of attack and barrier by police officers against NSCDC personnel involved in anti-illegal mining operations in the nasarawa state.
However, in a statement released on Sunday by a spokesman for NSCDC, Afolabi Babawale, the corps away from the petition, clarifying that the officer acted unilaterally and without previous permission from management.
“Commander Marshal Mining acts outside of his scope by submitting a petition without management authorization,” the statement said.
NSCDC’s leadership emphasizes its commitment to maintain positive inter-institutional relations with the Nigerian police and signify his intention to solve the problem peacefully.

“Therefore, the management of the corps separated from the temporary petition of officers has been directed to immediately withdraw the petition to enable the resolution of subtle and friendly problems raised in the spirit of strong interlagence relations between Nigerian police and corps and harmonious work relations between IGP and CG.”
In goodwill cues, the commander of the general has called for a joint investigation with the police to determine the facts of the incident.
“CG has requested a joint investigation with the police with a view to revealing what really happened when we tried to find a shared foundation,” the statement added.
Dr. Audi also personally reached the Inspector General of the Police, expressed his regret for the episode and expanded sincere apology.
“I have spoken to IGP about this problem and sincerely apologized for the shame that might be caused by the petition. I have also directed that the petition be withdrawn immediately with the intention to solve it administratively without grudges,” he said.
NSCDC further notes that the steps of internal discipline are being considered given the unauthorized actions of officers.
Referring to the dedication of the corps for national security collaboration, Dr. Audi underlines the importance of unity among the Nigerian security institutions, especially under a broader vision of the new hope of the Federal Government.
“The Inspector General of the Police consistently supports the NSCDC operation and has encouraged inter-institutional collaboration for national security purposes,” the statement highlighted.
