Benue Massacre: VDM shows a scene where 40 people were killed in one house, 15 family members were slaughtered

Nigerian social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman, has released video recordings that show how more than 40 people, including women and children, were slaughtered in a community by herders who were suspected during the attack on the Yelwata community in the Guma Regional Government in the Benue state on Saturday night.

In the video he shared on his Instagram page on Sunday night after joining the young people in the state to protest against the unrelenting murder in that state, VDM, as he was called, told how 15 family members were also slaughtered by attackers during raging.

According to him, dozens of people were burned alive and many others were shot dead when the shepherds allegedly launched a night late attack described by Amnesty International as one of the most deadly in recent times.

“What my eyes see, my mouth can’t speak. These are children who are slaughtered here, burned to ashes,” VDM said in the video.

“In this house, 40 people were killed; 35 were killed in the next. The police station was also attacked,” said a resident in the recording.

Another population who spoke in a video clip said a local pharmacist was among the victims while the brothers of the pharmacists who died lost 15 family members, with several other families were erased with several loss of up to five relatives.

“We were in the room because of the rain. Around 10:45, we heard the sound of gunfire at the police station. Then the second group began to enter the house, broke the door and shoot people.

“There is no help. We think the government will protect us, but we are left alone. Our community youths try the best. The attackers do not go until around 2 am,” he exclaimed.
