Lifeline for IDP Yelwata while Bipc gives food, water

The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (Bipc) Tuesday has extended an anchor of salvation to the victims of the displaced people of the recent attack on the Yelewata community in the area of the local government of Guma.
Tuesday, Bipc donated 5000 loaves of bread and 1,000 bags of sachet water to the indoor displaced people (IDP) currently hosted at the international market along George Akume Way.
Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, CEO of the Bipc group, accompanied by high -level and personal officials who visited the field at the Makurdi international market, reaffirmed the Bipc commitment to support the people affected by violence, committing that the donation of bread and water would continue every three days.
“We are here to stay in solidarity with you and share your pain. We will continue to bring bread and water every three days until you stay here. You are not alone,” he said.
Dr. Asemakaha also transmitted the commitment of the executive governor of the state of Benue, Rev. P. Dr. Hyacinth Irmem alia, to restore peace and security to Yelewata and in other affected areas.
He assured the victims that the state government would not abandon them in the moment of need.
In response, Benue State Emergency Management Agency (traffic), Sir James Iorpuu, represented by the head of the operations, dr. Donald Komgbenda, expressed gratitude for support. He revealed that the field currently hosts 3,078 displaced from 1,277 families, including 1,057 males and 2,027 women and children.
The attack on Yelewata, who left many dead and displaced scores, attracted a widespread sentence.
While humanitarian efforts continue, Bipc ‘commitment to provide sustained relief offers hope to those who struggle to reconstruct their lives.
