Gov Alia updated the call to the State Police after the Benue Slaughter

The Governor of the State of Benue, Hyacinth Alia, on Wednesday reiterated his call for the formation of state police as a sustainable solution for continuous unsafeful feelings in the state.

The governor made a call at a city hall meeting with the President of Bola Tinubu, who was in Benue to sympathize with the countries of this new attack on a community in the Guma regional government.

More than 200 people were killed, the score was injured, and the house and property were destroyed in the June 13 attack on Yelwata, Guma Lga.

Alia noted that despite concerns about implementation, the federal government could explain the guidelines and framework of regulations to prevent abuse.

He said: “We humbly urged the federal government to consider building special intervention funds for people affected by the unrelenting attacks.

“Such funds will be very helpful to support their abandoned rehabilitation of their ancestral homes.

“These funds can also restore the livelihoods of farmers and their families, because the government will continue to work to ensure that people are not only safe, but can develop in their land.

“We want to thank the security agents in Benue for their efforts, but we ask more security measures to be taken to face the challenges faced, because the attack on the benue people who love peace has survived for a decade.

“However, it looks like an effort calculated to destroy the benue people and take over their ancestral house.”

The governor said that the visit of the Head of Services and other security formations had given people the hope that there might be eternal peace in the state.

“We want to thank Mr. President for taking the time to come and grieve with the benue people because we believe this will end the security challenges that survive.

“Even though our hearts are heavy over the loss of people we love and ancestral houses, our hope is turned on by your visit.

“We are grateful to Mr. President for canceling another concern that is of concern to visit the benue people after Yelwata’s attack, because this is a true leadership demonstration,” Alia added.
