EFCC captured the ex-plateau speaker, 14 others because of the alleged N2.5BN fraud

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arrested a former Chairperson of the State Council of the Assembly, Moses Sule, and 14 former MPs due to alleged N2.5 billion fraud and position abuse.

The Head of EFCC Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said the suspects were arrested by EFCC operators who were attached to the Directorate of Zonal Makurdi on Tuesday, following the petition from citizens who care in the state.

Oyewale added that former members of parliament who allegedly violated the provisions of the Money Laundering Law (prevention and prohibition), 2022, and were also involved in procurement deviations.

He registered other parliamentary members who were arrested with Sule as Giscottson Fom, Sani Abubakar, JWE Gwom, Timothy Dantong, Happiness Akawu, and Cornelius Doeyok.

Others are Agalak Ibrahim, Danjuma Azi, Fwangje Ndat, Salome Waklek, Namba Rmuyat, Nimchak Rims, Ishaku Maren, and Paul Datugun.

“Investigations show that former legislators only spent six months in the office, and the state government bought several luxury vehicles for them in their official capacity.

“Further investigations show that the vehicle is worth N2.5 billion.

“After leaving the office, the vehicle was intended to be returned to the state government, but was brought by the legislators, and all efforts to take them had proven to fail.

“The state government must get a set of other vehicles for the current members of the Council Council worth around N2 billion.

“The suspects will be charged with court at the end of the investigation,” said the spokesman.
