Amaechi is not a presidential candidate, he cannot feed his family after 40 years in government

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on former Rivers State Governor and Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, saying he is unfit to be president.

The APC, in a statement on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, argued that if Amaechi, by his own admission, cannot feed or provide for his family outside of government employment, then he does not deserve to be left to handle the affairs of the state.

The party lamented that Anaechi was a “lazy person” who had failed to remain productive outside public office, and mocked him for his recent comments about his inability to afford medicine for his late mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.

The party expressed condolences for the death of Amaechi’s mother, while jokingly praying that he would find a job capable of providing sufficient income to support himself and his family.

Amaechi, a former two-term Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term governor and two-term Minister of Transport, recently lost his mother.

The statement read in part: “We also pray for good mental and physical health for her son, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, former two-term Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, two-term Governor, two-term Minister of Transport, former presidential candidate, and current vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who cannot afford medicine for his mother’s treatment.

“We sincerely hope that employers in his hometown of Ubima in Ikwere Local Government Area of Rivers State will find him suitable for a job that pays enough for him to feed and buy medicines for himself and his beloved family for the remainder of his retirement years. Amen.

Rotimi Amaechi’s extraordinary confession should not be missed. First, he howled that he became so poor and hungry that his wife now feeds him. Now, he stated that his inability to afford medicines killed his mother at the age of 89.

“For four decades, Rotimi Amaechi held the highest office in government. He never went hungry and could afford medicine for himself and his family. Just three years out of office, he became destitute, unable to support himself and his loved ones.

“If Amaechi is not struggling with some kind of Peter Pan syndrome, then he is definitely a lazy, aimless and irresponsible person for his inability to be productive and earn a living outside the responsibilities of public office.

“The same Rotimi Amaechi is now asking Nigerians to make him vice president in 2027 so that he can continue to exploit the nation’s finances and maintain the predatory lifestyle he has become accustomed to.

“The Presidency is not a public kitchen and will not be a public kitchen for Rotimi Amaechi.

“No one can say more about Rotimi Amaechi’s unsuitability for the office of Vice President than Rotimi Amaechi himself.”
