The governor to work with the Nigerian government about the food crisis, other

The governor of 36 countries on Thursday promised to work with the federal government to harmonize levies, remove illegal inspection posts, and increase the movement of free goods throughout the state.

They stated that this was in the communication issued at the end of their meeting in Abuja and was signed by the Chairman of the Nigerian Governor Forum (NGF), Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq from the state of Kwara.

Communike was read by the Governor of the State Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The governor also negotiated about the increase in food costs and other problems that affected the country.

Communike reads: “The forum accepts the briefing from the National Security Advisor (NSA), Nuhu thousand, accompanied by the Ministers of Defense, Agriculture, Livestock Development, and Transportation, with increasing the cost of food and livestock transportation throughout the country.

“The presentation revealed that the proliferation of inspection posts, illegal taxation, and poor infrastructure is the main contributor of price inflation and inefficiencies in the food supply chain.

“NSA notes that the high-level inter-statement committee has been formed to overcome this problem and has submitted its recommendations for the ratification of the forum.

“The Governor acknowledged the urgency of this problem and stated a commitment to collaborate with federal authority to streamline levies, dismantle unauthorized inspection posts, and increase the movement of goods throughout the state.”

“The Governor expressed concern over the non-default promise of funding by banks under Ngares 1.0.

“This forum emphasizes the need for a peaceful resolution between the World Bank and the participating countries to conclude the first phase of the program before advancing to Ngares 2.0, which is designed to build long-term resilience for households and vulnerable companies.”

The meeting, which ended at the beginning of Thursday, Y was attended by Governor Seyi Makinde (OYO), Hope Uzodinma (IMO), Charles Soludo (Anambra), Umo Eno (Akwa-Ibom), Ademola Adeleke (Osun), and Caleb Mutfwang (Platoau).

Others are Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Abiodun Oyewbanji (Ekiti), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), Usman Ododo (Kogi), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Oksi, Okebolo (Cross River) (Ogun).
