The Lagos government closes the slaughterhouse of oco-gobs for ‘unwaven practice’

The state government of the Lagos has ordered the closure of the slaughtering places of Oko-Toba animals in the country’s Agege area for unhygienic activities.

Commissioner of State for Environmental and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, gave direction after the inspection of animal slaughtering on Thursday ..

He said the decision followed the petition from the Ministry of Agriculture of the State about poor environmental conditions in the slaughterhouse.

Wahab said the slaughtering of the animal issued its animal waste to another company called Forth-Walt Farm in the area. .

He said: “The state government of the Lagos will not forgive the actions of any environmental and environmental degradation in the slaughterhouse and neighboring environment.

“There is an environmental law that guides the operation of slaughtering animals in the state. He added that wastewater and blood produced from meat processing must adequately pass through a processing plant and not discharged into a public drain.

“The state government will make a drastic and firm decision to improve this attitude and ensure this operator complies with the law.

“If nothing is done right now about the current state of the hospital, it is only a disaster waiting to happen.”
