Thursday the federal government closed his case against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the prohibited indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), in his current trial for accusations on the border with terrorism and traditionable crime.
The accusation, led by the Senior supporter of Nigeria, Adegboyega Awomolo, announced the closure of his case after having presented his fifth and last witness, identified only as EEE for security reasons.
The witness was conducted in evidence and examined by the defense team before judge James Omotosho of the Federal Court, Abuja.
Awomolo declared to the Court that the accusation had presented sufficient evidence, including audio and visual materials relating to the activities of the leader of the Ipob, to justify the conclusion of his case.
“After calling five witnesses in the trial, the accusation is satisfied with the fact that from the avalanche of evidence offered, including the transmission of the activities of the leader of the iPob, the government has sufficiently satisfied the need to close his case. Therefore I close the case,” said Awomolo.
In response, the head of defense Kanu Agabi, San, informed the Court of their intention to submit a submission as for the case, indicating that the defense believes that the accusation was not established to a first Facie case against the accused.
The Court should set a date for the hearing of the presentation without the case, which, if supported, could entail the dismissal of the accusations against Kanu
