The Nigerian government suspended two NCOS staff for passport fraud

Interior Minister, Olubunmi Supi-ojo, has ordered the suspension of two Nigerian Correctional Services (NCOS) service staff for alleged efforts to get an international passport for an inmate.

NCOS Public Relations Officer, Umar Abubakar, revealed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

He said the incident that occurred two weeks ago was detected through the automatic passport application and other holistic reforms in the Nigerian immigration service.

According to him, the incident violated the rules and procedures set.

Abubakar said: “The required disciplinary action was taken including the suspension of the two correctional personnel involved in the incident by the Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Councils chaired by the Honorable Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Olubumni Supi-Ojo.

“The Correction Control of Sylvester Nwakuche, has reiterated its commitment to uphold discipline, transparency, and professionalism in all detention centers throughout the country.

“This service states that every personnel found involved in violations, corruption, or sabotage will be displayed a way out of the system.”
