Tugar talks about “Nigerians abandoned in Iran”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, the ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, rejected how false relationships that circulate on social media claiming that Nigerian citizens have been abandoned in Iran.
Tuggar clarified the situation in a statement on Saturday in Abuja from the ministry spokesperson, Mr. Kimiebi Ebienfa.
According to the declaration, the attention of the ministry was attracted by those that described as misleading and unfounded relationships.
Reports suggested that the Nigerian embassy in Tehran had ceased the operations and abandoned citizens due to the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel.

“The Embassy of Nigeria in Tehran remains operational and fully engaged in the well -being and safety of all Nigerian citizens in Iran,” said Tuggar.

He explained, however, that due to continuous safety problems and bombing consistent with Tehran, the normal work programs had been interrupted, with the staff of the embassy who currently worked remotely.

“In response to these developments, the embassy is actively engaged with the government of Armenia to ensure access for the evacuation of the Nigerians through Yerevan,” said the minister.

He also recommended to the Nigerians to stay in touch with the coordinators of the community designated in the three previously organized offices and to download the Iranian Iranian messaging app and to join the Nigerian group for real -time updates.

“The ministry remains alert in monitoring the situation and will continue to take all the necessary measures to safeguard the interests of the Nigerians all over the world,” added the note.
