SDP suspended the chairman, a national auditor for alleged misuse of funds

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has suspended its national chairman, Shehu Gabam, for the alleged abuse of party funds.

The Secretary of the National Publicity of the Party, Araraia Aiyenigba, revealed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

He said the National Party Auditor, Nnadi Clarkson, and national youth leader, Chukwuma Uchchechukwu. Also suspended for the same reason.

The spokesman said that Gabam submitted financial statements without the approval of the National Work Committee (NWC) to the Independent National Election Commission (Inec) and issued a summary in the newspaper.

He added that the party had warned law enforcement agencies on this issue.

“The deferred officials are associated with a series of unauthorized financial transactions, personal enrichment schemes, and transfer of funds without NWC approval.

“This action strengthens our zero tolerance to corruption,” said Aiyenigba

Deputy Chairperson of the National, North, Sadiq Abubakar, has been appointed as Acting National Chair in accordance with the party’s constitution.
