Max Air refunded N182m to passengers, NCAA reveals

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revealed that Indigenous airline, Max Air refunded N182 million to 956 passengers in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026.

The NCAA acknowledged the refunds in a post on X on Tuesday, but urged the airline to resolve passenger refund claims more quickly in accordance with Section 19 of the 2023 NCAA Rules.

“In the second quarter of 2026 (April, May, June), domestic operator, Max Air paid ticket refunds amounting to 182,099,018.88 naira, to nine hundred and fifty-six passengers,” the post said.

“While this is appreciated and acknowledged, we look forward to more expeditious resolution of passenger refund claims in accordance with Section 19 of the 2023 NCAA Rules.”

The NCAA reaffirms its commitment to protecting the rights and responsibilities of passengers, operators and other stakeholders in the aviation sector.

On December 24, 2025, the NCAA said United Nigeria Airlines and Max Air recorded the highest number of flight cancellations in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025.

Regulators also said Max Air had the second highest rate of flight delays during the period, after Air Peace.

The NCAA has warned it will impose sanctions on airlines that continue to violate consumer protection rules.
