Lagos probes the demolition of the ownership of Obi’s brother – Thage

The state government of Lagos has ordered an investigation into the controversial demolition of a property owned by the presidential brother of his brother’s brother 2023, Peter Obi.

Underlining that the property, owned by his brother’s company, had remained for over 15 years before he was demolished, Obi said that the demolition had been carried out by unidentified people who act on a vague court sentence that did not mention his brother, the property or contain any demolition order.

Reacting in a statement on Thursday, the state commissioner for information and strategies, a homooso Gbenga, denied the involvement of the state government in demolition.

“The state government of Lagos is forced to face the recent accusations made by Mr. Peter Obi regarding the demolition of a property belonging to his brother. We want to categorically declare that the Lagos State Control Agency (Lasbca) or any other arm of the state government of Lagos did not carry out the aforementioned demolition,” said the commissioner.

According to homooso, dr. Olajide inhabitun Babaunde, special consultant of Egis & Urban Development, who supervises Lasbca, also confirmed that the agency was not involved in demolition.

He expressed concern about the fact that these statements have been made without adequate verification of the facts, especially in a sensitive political time, in view of the local government’s elections.

Omotoso reiterated the government’s commitment towards the right trial, saying: “We will not tolerate any acts of illegality or violations of the existing laws. Any individual or group found in these documents will be led to justice”.

To clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged accident, homooso said that the permanent secretary at the office for urban development, arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki had been aimed at starting a complete survey via Lasbca.

“To get to the root of the matter, the state government has directed the arch. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, Fnia, permanent secretary, Office of Urban Development, to supervise a global investigation by Lasbca in the circumstances surrounding the demolition. The investigations will help to clarify what has happened and guarantee adequate actions.
