NGO to form 25,000 women, young people in an agricultural value chain

A non -governmental organization in the state of Sokoto, Authe Help Africa (SHA), launched a program to form 25,000 young people and women in the states of Sokoto and Zamfara on the value chain of agriculture to raise them from poverty

In his speech, the director of the country, Joy Adelere, said that the objectives of the program were to enhance women and young people on the production of agricultural foods and strengths, marketing and family nutrition practices in both states of Sokoto.

Adrele stressed that several barriers that limit women’s participation in the country included weak integral gender in national and state policies, economic constraints and deeply rooted cultural perceptions.

“There are gaps in the compensation of the genre in national and state policies, with weak implementation and insufficient application mechanisms.

“Economic constraints, wage gaps and limited financing opportunities also make it difficult for women to pursue leadership roles,” he said.

He also said that the project aimed to strengthen barriers and promote the best practices that women can commit to pursuing their dreams to improve the subsistence means of the Nigerians.

Speaking while revealing the project, the director of women’s affairs, the Ministry of Affairs of women and children of Sokoto, Hajia Hauwa’u Umar-Jabo, described the project as an integrated effort that would have authorized women and young people throughout the state.

Hauwa Jabo, who represented the commissioner of the ministry, Hajia Hadiza Shagari, said that the program would certainly have discussed the efforts of the state government in line with the agenda of the intelligent points of the governor Ahmad Aliyu and would have ensured maximum support to guarantee desirable successes.

Speaking also the head of the State Team, Hajia Hajara Muhammad, said that the project began in January this year and targeted 70 % of women aged between 18 and 25 for agriculture and the related marketing opportunities.

Hajara observed that the general strategy was to relaunch the best agricultural practices to attract more productive commitments to the states of implementation of the states of Sokoto and Zamfara.

He explained that the project was designed to give power to 25,000 women and young people in the chains of agricultural value that include the development of capacity in the agricultural sector and in agricultural funding.

According to her, other areas included the promotion of post -collection management, the promotion of Empowerment of transformational women, available markets, public collaboration, private collaboration and networking strategies.

He said that targeted production was on horticulture, millet, sorghum, soybean and peanuts in the areas of the local bidinga government, Kware, Sokoto North, Wurno and Tambuwal.
