TCN added 120MW to the National Network

The Nigerian transmission company, TCN, has added 120 megawatts to the national network by giving the energy of two new power transformers installed in the transmission substation 330/132/33 kilovolt Birnin Kebbi in the Kebbi state.

TCN General Manager, Public Affairs. Ndidi Mbah, revealed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.

According to him, 100 megavolt-amperes (MVA and 150 MVA Transformers were given energy at 1:18 pm and 2:56 nights, respectively, on Friday.

He stated that the installation of additional transformers had increased the substation capacity from 300 MVA to 450 MVA.

As a result, the Kaduna electricity distribution company now has 120 MW of additional bulk power to be distributed to its customers in all Kebbi, Sokoto, and the surrounding area.

This development also allows TCN to maintain the normal bulk power supply to Niamey, Niger Republic.

Speaking of development, Mbah noted that the agency remains committed to ensuring the transmission of bulk power that is more effective and efficient nationally.

“Additional transformers have increased the substation capacity from 300 MVA to 450 MVA.

“As a result, the Kaduna electricity distribution company now has 120MW of additional bulk power to be distributed to its customers throughout Kebbi, Sokoto, and its surroundings. This also allows TCN to ensure the normal bulk power supply to Niamey, Republic of Niger.

“We are committed to the expansion and maintenance of a sustainable state transmission system to ensure the transmission of bulk power that is more effective and efficient nationally,” the statement said.

This development has increased the Nigerian power plant which previously reached 5,148.34 megawatts on April 25.
