Police operations in Anambra have arrested a 24 -year -old man identified as Muanyeny Chekwube Victor because of the alleged kidnapping of his friends in the state.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement on Sunday at Awka that the suspect was arrested by the police attached to the headquarters of the Uli Division on June 26.
He said the suspect, in collaboration with his gang member, gathered a ransom β¦ 5.3 million from the victim.
The victim, according to the spokesman, was released after a ransom payment.
The statement reads’ “Police Operations attached to the Uli Division Headquarters on the night of June 26, 2025 were exposed and captured one Muanyeny Chekwube Victor ‘M’, 24 years old, for the reported abduction case.

“This case, which is being investigated, revealed that the suspect planned a kidnapping and gathering a ransom in the dollar equivalent to β¦ 5.3 million with his gang members before the victim was released.
“The suspect, during the interrogation, claimed to have planned a kidnapping plot by captivating his friend to escort him to meet another friend.
“Victor and criminal gangs allegedly kidnapped their friends and, to avoid suspicion, pretending to be kidnapped by their criminal gangs.
“Meanwhile, he is now working with the police, providing information to help capture his accomplices, and will face prosecution after the investigation.”
