Frire allegations: Mikel agent drags Siasia to the Court, demands 250 m naira as damage

FIFA’s licensed football agent, John Shitu, issued a formal legal lawsuit to the former super -eagles coach Samson Siasia, looking for a complete retraction and apologies for alleged defamatory statements against him about the Nigeria Olympic football campaign in 2008.

In a letter dated and signed by its legal representatives, Shittu categorically denied Siasia’s statement, reported in the media that offered Siasia a bribe of € 50,000 to ensure the inclusion of John Obi Mikel in Nigeria U-23 team for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

In a letter dated and signed by its legal representatives, Godwin Dick Inyang & Co., Shittu categorically denied Siasia’s claim, informed in the media, including the reporters of Sahara and Soccernet.ng, which offered Siasia a bribe of € 50,000 to ensure the inclusion of John Obi Mikel in the U-23 Niger Olympic 2008 in Beyympic.

The legal notice, directed directly to Siasia, described the accusation as “false, malicious and very defamatory”, adding that it had caused “reputation damage and professional injuries” to Shittu, which is widely respected in the global football industry.

“His statement is false, malicious and calculated to belittle and reduce our client in the estimation of his colleagues, clients and the public, particularly in the strictly regulated world of professional sports management,” said the letter.

Shittu’s legal team is demanding:

A complete and unreserved retraction of the alleged statement on Sahara, Soccernet.ng reporters and all other platforms that published it;

Publication of retraction in at least two broadly circulated national newspapers, including the Punch and this day;

A formal and written apology addressed to Mr. Shittu and published on all the aforementioned platforms;

A written company not to issue or publish similar statements in the future;

Payment of ₦ 250 million in defamation damages, reputation injuries and consistent losses.

The legal notice also warned that non -compliance with the 14 days after reception will result in legal actions against Siasia. The planned lawsuit would seek aggravated damage, a complete legal order and legal costs
