2027: Peter Obi reiterates loyalty to the Labor Party in the midst of the ADC alliance

The president who was full of hope and the former Governor of the State Anambra, Peter Obi, had clarified his sustainable loyalty to the Labor Party (LP), apart from his new involvement in the coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) which aims to open the decision of all Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

Speaking at Channels TV’s Sunday Politics, Obi stated that his participation in the opposition coalition should not be interpreted as an anti-party activity.

According to him, the alliance is a strategic step towards achieving better governance and does not endanger LP membership.

“Today, I am a member of the Labor Party. I am still in the Labor Party. But we have all agreed to work as a coalition for the 2027 election, and for that, we have adopted ADC. Taking place, the party and other individuals will also enter,” he said.

Obi emphasized that the purpose of the coalition was to unite political actors and the same -thinking party for the interests of the nation.

“We want a better governance for this country. We want to see a more competent government with capacity and character,” he added.

The former LP presidential candidate also noted that a similar coalition in the past had resulted in a wider change in name and alliance. He convinced supporters that his collaboration with other political parties was oriented to the future and did not violate the current framework of his party.

“No, there is no anti-party. Remember, we say for 2027. We were not in 2027; we in 2025. Obviously. We have adopted it for 2027,” he stressed. “If I say I will be a part of your dinner at night, that doesn’t mean I have to leave my breakfast and lunch.”

Obi’s statement came in the midst of increasing speculation regarding political rearrangement ahead of the 2027 elections, because the opposition parties intensified efforts to challenge the dominance of APC and Bola President Ahmed Tinubu.
