Madugu admits super hawks not at his best against Botswana

The chief coach of the Super Falcons, Justine Madugu, admitted that her team failed to reach the expected height in the victory over Botswana.

The nine times champions defeated the 1-0 mares in a group B very played at the Larbi Zaouli stadium, Casablanca, on Thursday night.

“It was a difficult game, highly competitive.

“Botswana was very energetic, they were determined to get a result.”

Algeria test

The Super Falcons will now change their attention to their last group game against Algeria in Casablanca on Sunday.

Western Africans have already won a position in the quarterfinals after the victory over Botswana.

They need a point against North Africa to guarantee first place in Group B.

It is also an opportunity for Madugu to give some of the players, who have not yet tried the action in the WAFCON 2024 finals.

The 60 -year -old said he will present changes against the Algerians.

“It is always a job in progress. Even if we score 10 goals, there will still be things to improve,” he said.

“We will definitely make some changes in the last game against Algeria. Not because we are presenting a weaker team, all our players are capable, but because we need to manage the team carefully, knowing that we have up to six games to play in this tournament.

“It is important to rest to some players and give other opportunities.”
