Ihezuo Late Strike wins the position of the quarterfinals of the Super Falcons

Nigeria’s campaign for a tenth continental title in the 13th Cup of Women of Africa was placed frontally on Thursday after the Super Falcons got the three points against their Botswana counterparts to reach the quarterfinals of the competition.

Chinwendu Ihezuo, based in Mexico, scorer of the third goal in the 3-0 defeat of Tunisia on Sunday, stretched his left leg to connect from a great pass from Esther Okoronkwo and give Nigeria the day from a large match in Casablanca.

Refilwe Tholakele indicated from the beginning that it was not going to be a Nigerian night, since his fierce shot of a bold movement of the southern goalkeeper Chiamaka Nadozie, who had to make a second salvation when the ball spilled.

Botswana threw women into the numbers behind the ball while opting for the limitation of damage, and almost came out with great success, since Captain Rasheed Ajibade, Asisat Oshoala, Toni Payne and Rinsola Babajide could not find any public roads in the target line.

Halfway in the first stanza, the attack defender Ashley Plumptre advanced again, but lost a good opportunity of the Ajibade pass. Eleven minutes later, Payne shot when he was clear in another cross’s goal.

The disagreement was the same in the second half, with the suffocating opposition play with numbers in the midfield and defense. The Ihezuo substitute headed on the bar in the 48th minute and the energetic Plumptre saw that his difficult shot threw on the sticks of the maitumelo Bosija goalkeeper in the 64th minute.

The Jennifer Echegini substitute approached a snapshot in the 71st minute, and then requested the agility of Bosija based in South Africa with an angle shot in the 82nd minute.

The Mamelodi Sunday goalkeeper was finally defeated with a remaining minute in the regulation time, when Okoronkwo foxed the Botswana rear before a well -located pass that Ihezuo converted for the three points.

The Super Falcons will face Algeria in their last game of Group B on Sunday night, at the same stadium Larbi Zaouli.
