Former minister, Mamman, handed over more properties to the Nigerian government

Judge James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday, July 2, 2026 ordered the confiscation of five properties belonging to former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, who is serving a 75-year prison sentence for corruption.

Those that were permanently burned included the Walijam Apartment located at No. 43 Plot 435, Lobito Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja, while those temporarily forfeited are: Bloom Luxury Suites Nigeria Limited, located at No. a large house on Jalan Misratah No. 11, Wuse 2, Abuja; another one on Jalan Misratah No. 13, Wuse 2, Abuja and AUA Plaza at Jalan Kade Plot 734, Wuse 2, Abuja.

In ruling on the final confiscation application, Justice Omotosho stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) may determine that the convict acquired the Walijam Apartments with the proceeds of unlawful activities.

On the other hand, he ordered the Commission to publish a temporary forfeiture order in a national newspaper within seven days, so that interested parties could appear before the court and show reasons why the other four properties should not ultimately be turned over to the federal government.

The EFCC tried Mamman before Judge James Omotosho on 12 counts of corruption and money laundering which was amended to N33. 8 billion. The judge convicted him of all charges on May 7, 2026 and sentenced him to 75 years in prison on May 13, 2026.

Although the ill-gotten assets were recovered from him during the trial, the judge further ordered him to return the N22 billion that the Commission managed to trace to him.
