Tinubu announced the death of Buhari, sending a shettima to escort the bodies of leaders who were late from England

Football President Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed the death of the former President of Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a deep national tragedy and irreplaceable loss for the nation.

The announcement was announced on Sunday through a statement issued by a special advisor to the President of Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

“The Ball President Ahmed Tinubu has announced the passage of his predecessor, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“President Buhari died today in London around 4:30 pm, following a prolonged disease,” the statement said.

President Tinubu, according to the statement, has reached personally Buhari’s widow, Aisha Buhari, to express a sincere condolence.

“President Tinubu has spoken to Mrs. Aishat Buhari, the widow of the former president and expressed his deep condolences,” Onanuga said.

Responding to the development, Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to Britain to oversee direct arrangements and accompany the remnants of the deceased’s deceased back to Nigeria.

“President Tinubu has also ordered Vice President Kashim Shettima to continue to England to accompany the body of President Muhammadu Buhari to return to Nigeria,” the statement continued.

As part of national sorrow, President Tinubu has also instructed that all flags throughout the country were hoisted in half a pole.

“President Tinubu has ordered a flag in half the staff as a sign of respect for leaders who have died,” the statement concluded.

Further announcements regarding the arrangement of funerals and national warning activities are expected in the coming days.
