Trump issued a 50 -day ultimatum to Russia, announced the main weapon agreement for Ukraine

US President Donald Trump on Monday gave Russia a deadline of 50 days to end his war in Ukraine, a warning of severe economic consequences if Moscow failed to obey. The President also launched a major weapon supply agreement aimed at improving Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

“We are very unhappy with Russia,” Trump told reporters during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House. “We will make a very severe rate if we don’t have an agreement in 50 days – a tariff of around 100 percent.”

He added that the tariff will be “secondary” in nature, targeting countries that continue to trade with Russia, in the movement designed to cut the remaining financial life to Kremlin.

In a major change in Washington’s military support to Kyiv, Trump and Rutte announced a plan that would make NATO bought billions of dollars military equipment worth billions of dollars-including the patriot-air defense system-for immediate delivery to Ukraine.

“This is a military equipment worth billions of dollars to NATO,” Trump explained, “And that will be quickly distributed to the battlefield.”

Rutte, a former Dutch Prime Minister, stressed that the package would include “a large number of weapons to increase Ukraine’s resistance to Russian aggression.

This new initiative came a few months after Trump, at the beginning of his second term in January, pursuing diplomatic opening against Russian President Vladimir Putin in an effort to fulfill his campaign promises to end the war within 24 hours. However, the strategy has worsened.

“I don’t want to say he is a murderer, but he is a tough man,” Trump said about Putin, signaling the shift of Nada after an increase in Russian attacks in the last few weeks.

On Sunday, Trump had seen the announcement of Monday by revealing plans to send a patriot system to Ukraine. The new assistance reversed the previous signal from Washington that it would stop or reduce weapons delivery to Kyiv.

Trump’s special envoy, Keith Kellogg, arrived at the capital of Ukraine on Monday and held talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky. The leader of Ukraine praised the involvement, saying, “We hold a productive meeting where we discuss the strengthening of Ukraine air defense, joint production, and the procurement of defense weapons in collaboration with Europe.”

Zelensky added, “I thank President Trump for the important signal of support and positive decisions for our two countries.”

A Ukrainian soldier who was placed in the east of the country, who identified himself with the sign “Grizzly,” welcomed the updated US assistance. “It’s better to be late than nothing,” he said. “Because when we are here to defend the front lines, our families are not protected. Thanks to the patriot they give to us, our families will be safer.”

Meanwhile, Russian troops claimed territorial progress in East Ukraine, announced the arrest of two villages – one in Donetsk and another in the Zaporizhzhia region. Ukraine officials also reported that at least three civilians were killed in Kharkiv and Sumy after continuing Russian shooting.

In the midst of intensifying the war, President Zelensky proposed a significant government overhaul, recommending the current Minister of Economics Yulia Svyrydenko as the next Prime Minister of State. SvyryDenko acknowledged the urgency of the time, writing on social media, “Ukraine faces an important time.”
