FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup: Ikpeme charges the Falconets so as not to spare the Republic of Korea

Abuja (Core Reporters) – The Acting General Secretary of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Emmanuel Ikpeme, has tasked the Nigerian Under-20 women’s team, Falconets, to perform at their best against their Republic of Korea counterparts in a friendly match on Tuesday, in order to sustain the winning mentality they had established in Friday’s defeat to hosts Poland in another friendly match.
Mary Mamudu scored in first-half stoppage time to lead the two-time World Cup runners-up to victory at the Brzeg Municipal Stadium, while the Falconets face the Asians in their final warm-up match at the Remes Sports Leisure and Spa Stadium on Tuesday 1 September.
“You did very well in the friendly against the host nation, holding your ground and ultimately emerging victorious. The NFF and the entire nation of Nigeria are proud of you.
“The victory over Poland has instilled a winning mentality in you and another victory over the Republic of Korea on Tuesday will support that mentality, allowing you to face the challenges of the World Cup group stage with the necessary confidence and vivacity. I urge you to aim for an outright victory against the Koreans.”
Nigeria will compete in Group F of the championship alongside Spain, China and New Caledonia. The Falconets face Spain on Monday 7 September before other group stage matches against China on 10 September and New Caledonia on 13 September
