Rivers’s head was killed in a perforated daytime attack when armed attacking the community

The tragedy struck the Obelle community, the Emohua Regional Government area at Rivers State on Saturday night, when armed people were suspected of being a member of the famous Icelandic cult group, invading the meeting of community leaders and killed the Head of Ferdinand Dabiri, Deputy Chairman of the Obelle Head Council.

The attackers, led by a man identified as ‘Cairo’, reportedly arrived at the meeting place on a motorcycle. According to an eyewitness account, Cairo walked directly to Dabiri’s head, shot him at close range, and fled with his men, leaving the traditional ruler in a puddle of blood.

The insolent attack sent a shock wave through the community, when the leaders and other residents fled in panic. The witness described the scene as something from a horror film, with confusion and fear of gripping the village.

Confirming the tragic incident to journalists at Port Harcourt, the son of the deceased, Joseph Dabiri, told what he had told about his father’s last time.

“I heard that a man came with a gun when my father was meeting in the village of Omiwoka in Obelle, a man came and shot him,” Joseph said.
